Several local groups are marking International Overdose Awareness Day on Thursday.
Officials say the day is about raising awareness about overdoses in our community, commemorating those whose lives were lost and to offer a safe space for those grieving.
WNGH’s Alliance Centre, in collaboration with WN Community Health Centre, is hosting an event at 10:45 a.m. on Aug. 31 at the fountain on King St. in Sturgeon Falls.
Officials say it’s a remembrance ceremony, and will feature dignitaries speaking, a traditional Indigenous prayer song, and more.
Other events are also happening in North Bay, and groups involved include the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit, AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area, the city and several others.
