No injuries after vessel in distress calls on Lake Nipissing

Ontario Provincial Police report no injuries after the marine unit responded to a couple of vessel in distress calls on Lake Nipissing, in North Bay, last week.

The North Bay OPP says both happened between Aug. 8-11 during high winds and rough waters.

Officials say one boat got tangled in the lines of marked buoys near the shore and was abandoned while the second vessel had mechanical failures and wasn’t able to navigate.

Police remind boaters they do not tow broken down vessels, noting some marinas in the area offer the service.
