Area youth and agriculture benefiting from federal funding

The benefits are two-fold with about $3,800 in federal support for Field Good Farms in Cache Bay.

Marc Serré, MP for Nickel Belt says the money will be used to provide employment opportunities for local youth, offering them valuable hands-on experience in the agricultural sector.

He says the grant will also enable the farm to expand its sustainable operations and continue contributing to the local economy.

“Field Good Farm’s ability to scale up their operations all while offering youth valuable work experience is a big win for our region,” says Serré.

Ryan Spence, Co-owner of Field Good Farms says they’re grateful for the support.

“It allows us to invest time into youth in the agricultural sector,” he says. “More specifically, we are trying our best to grow healthy food in a sustainable and regenerative way that ultimately feeds our communities while improving our ecosystem’s health. Having the chance to do this alongside passionate young citizens while teaching them agri-ecological skills is a wonderful opportunity.”

The funding comes from the Youth Employment and Skills Program.
