Young Canadians needed to help make the country more accessible

The federal government is encouraging young people between the ages of 15 and 30 to apply to become Youth Accessibility Leaders.

Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt says the youth leaders will volunteer time to create greater awareness about accessibility needs and encourage organizations to apply for funding to address existing accessibility barriers.

Funding can be used for adding ramps, accessible doors, washrooms or playgrounds, elevators, pool lifts, multi-sensory rooms and more.

The deadline for youth leaders to get involved is Oct. 10.
