Saturday’s Canada Day fireworks cancelled

The Canada Day fireworks scheduled this Saturday at the Sturgeon Falls beach have been cancelled.

Officials say it’s due to the local fire ban and the restricted fire zone issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

The municipality says plans are underway to reschedule the fireworks to a later date when the weather and fire regulations permit. More details will be provided in the coming weeks.
Officials add as the long weekend approaches, open-air fires, including campfires and fireworks are prohibited under the Restricted Fire Zone regulations.

Officials say portable gas and propane stoves are permitted for cooking and warmth, provided users exercise extreme caution. The fire ban remains in effect until further notice.

Canada Day celebrations at the West Nipissing Community and Recreation Centre will proceed accordingly, rain or shine.

Doors open at 11 a.m., with free admission on Saturday, July 1, 2023.

This year’s event features live entertainment and music, games, face painting, a vendor market, a basketball tournament and an evening concert.
