ReCycle Bikes program returns

Over 850 used bicycles have been tuned up and given back to North Bay and area residents through the ReCycle Bikes program.

Discovery Routes first introduced the program in 2015.

Jennifer McCourt, Executive Director, says one of their priorities is getting more people to experience the local trails and for some a properly fitted bicycle in good working order can be a barrier to having the freedom to ride.

“We get bicycles donated and tune them up and get them back into the hands of people who need a bike to use those trails and routes that are here to keep them healthy,” she says.

Bikes can be donated Wednesday afternoons throughout May and June from 3 pm to 6 pm at Laurentian Ski Hill’s Lower Lodge on Ski Club Road.

Along with cash donations, officials are looking for more volunteers for the program.
