Water levels slowly declining in Sturgeon River and Upper Ottawa River areas

Water safety statements have replaced flood warnings for the Sturgeon River and Upper Ottawa River watersheds.

That update from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry on Thursday afternoon.

Water levels and flows in both areas remain higher than normal but are slowly declining in most areas.

The ministry says if maximum precipitation amounts are received over the weekend, water systems are expected to react causing an increase in levels and flows.

Officials say no flooding is expected at this time.
