Tim Hortons coming to Nipissing First Nation

Cheaper gas and a Tim Hortons coffee could soon be the new ‘Double Double’ for travelers on Highway 17.

A new Tim Hortons is being built behind the Wolves Den gas bar at Beaucage Park Road and the highway.

Owner Lorie Young says it will be a commercial duplex housing both the restaurant and the gas bar.

“We want to try to create as much employment as we can for the first nation and the outlying area,” she says. “We’re looking at between 30-35 people at the Tim Hortons alone. At the gas bar we employ about 10-15 people right now.”

That’s a mix of both full and part-time positions.

Young says the plans have been in the works for about seven years and it’s exciting to see the project get started with Wednesday’s groundbreaking.

She says they plan to open in late November or early December.
