New chief voted in for Nipissing First Nation…

Scott McLeod is the new chief of Nipissing First Nation. McLeod was voted in on Friday, receiving 372 votes.

The other two chief candidates were Doug Chevrier and Arnold May. McLeod replaces outgoing chief Marianna Couchie who did not run for re-election. He will serve for at least three years.

Seven councillors were also voted in. They include: Muriel Sawyer 480 (Deputy Chief), Corey Goulais with 457 votes, June Commanda with 380 votes, Rick Stevens with 367 votes, Jason Laronde with 327 votes, Brian Couchie with 306 votes, and Cathy Bellefeuille with 297 votes.
