Virtual referral tool being launched by Victim Services of Nipissing

A new platform is coming to Victim Services of Nipissing that provides more options for support to victims of intimate partner violence.

“I think that during COVID we learned that we had to be adept at switching to virtual services,” says Kathleen Jodouin, Executive Director. “Coming out of that experience Victim Services is really excited to be working with community partners, who are providing supports to folks in our community, to partner on our new platform that is a virtual referral service.”

She says there are benefits to the new “C3” app and website application.

“It’s proven to be a safer more secure means of doing a referral as opposed to say email,” Jodouin says. “It’s fast and quick. It’s real-time, we can get that information that we need so we can connect with those folks and start to support them at the time that they ask for help.”

Victim Services is hosting a lunch-n-learn event for community partners to launch the new app on Thursday, March 23 from 11:30 am to 1 pm at Cecil’s Brewhouse and Kitchen.

Several stations will be set up to demonstrate the efficiency and ease of the ‘C3’ app for making referrals.

Officials say the new technology was made possible with funding from the Canadian Women’s Foundation Shockproofing Community Fund, which aims to use technology to create more service access for victims of intimate partner violence.
