With March Break upon us, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding snow machine operators to slow down on the trails.
The OPP says it responded to two serious collisions on area trails last weekend, with the drivers injured.
With these collisions and other fatalities in the area over the last couple of months, the OPP says officers will be out on the trails enforcing the laws, including the speed limit, with zero tolerance to prevent any further injuries or fatalities.
Provincial Police say speeding, driving too fast for the conditions and alcohol/drug-impairment are the leading causes of snowmobile fatalities.
Officials also say safety on the trails is everyone’s responsibility, and everyone needs to do their part.
