Canadore connecting with Mexican post-secondary schools

Canadore College is opening the door to enhanced student and employee experiences in Mexico.

Several college officials, including George Burton, President and CEO, visited post-secondary schools in four major Mexican cities.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed with Universidad Politécnica de Ramos Arizepe involving connections in engineering and business.

“We were very impressed by the openness and quality of the institutions in Mexico,” says Burton.  “We explored student and faculty exchanges, program pathways, program development, and applied research opportunities across multiple disciplines.”

The college says teams will be working together to explore international research projects in areas including biotechnology and aviation, a summer educational and cultural program will also be evaluated, and new modes of academic delivery, such as co-teaching pilot courses, will be investigated and then designed.

“The visit is part of our planned strategies aiming to accelerate a few key areas that are critical to our internationalization objectives and the positioning of Canadore as a global post-secondary academic institute striving for excellence,” said Dr. Ahmed Obaide, Vice President, Academic.  “There was an overall synergy that we anticipate will lead to mutually beneficial collaboration in more than one project.”

Canadore expects to be hosting a number of delegations in the near future.
