Think tank collecting northern data to inform decision-making

For a second year, the Northern Policy Institute is partnering with several groups to gather information from across the region.

The independent think tank says February is Measurement Month, which aims to collect consistent, comparable data to inform decision-making at all levels for Northern Ontario.

Five surveys will be available online while Environics will also be conducting a randomized phone survey in the five largest Northern communities.

Some of the themes will focus on racism, reconciliation, and welcoming.

The following surveys will be open from February 1 to 15, 2023:

Employer Preparedness Survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/MMemployer
Individual Experience Survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/MMindividual
Student and Youth Survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/MMstudentyouth
Exit Survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/MMexit
Attitudes Towards Immigration: www.surveymonkey.com/r/MMimmigration

Officials say the results of these surveys will be generalized in reports published by the Northern Policy Institute and other survey partners.

No personal identification will be revealed.

The think tank also says anonymous groupings of the data collected will be shared, on request, with survey partner organizations, policymakers, and program delivery agencies across Northern Ontario.
