Winter woes in the area Thursday

There aren’t any weather advisories in effect but that’s not stopping the snow from falling and impacting buses and traffic.

School buses were cancelled in several outlying communities, including the Almaguin and West Parry Sound areas, then later on in West Nipissing and Mattawa.

Schools remain open.

Traffic was moving again just after 9 am on Highway 17 between Sturgeon Falls and North Bay.

Drivers reported being stopped on the roadway for quite some time after some reported a collision.

Environment Canada says 5-10 cm of snow is in the forecast for West Nipissing on Thursday, with periods of snow tapering off to a few flurries around midnight.
