Nearly 40 floats entered in the Parade of Lights

West Nipissing’s Parade of Lights on Friday is expected to shine a bit brighter than in the past few years.

That’s because there are more floats entered.

Catherine Levac-Lafond, Community Development Officer, says they have 38 floats this year.

She says it should be an exciting parade, noting they have averaged about 30 floats in the last few years, including pre-COVID.

The parade starts at 6:30 pm Friday at the corner of John and Clark streets.

It will travel from John Street onto Michaud, then along Ethel Street, onto King and then Queen Street, wrapping up at the Sturgeon Falls Arena.

The municipality says due to safety concerns related to children and parade viewers running in front of parade floats and vehicles, candies and handouts will not be distributed at the parade.
