Recent robberies lead to charges for Mattawa woman

A 52-year-old Mattawa woman is facing a dozen charges including robbery with violence and pointing a firearm.

This after the North Bay Police Service reported a gas station on Highway 17 was robbed on Nov. 1 and a convenience store on Cassells Street was robbed on Nov. 7.

Anishinabek Police also reported a business was robbed that day.

Both police services released suspect and vehicle images with a witness in North Bay contacting police on Monday night after seeing the suspect and vehicle on McKeown Avenue.

City, Anishinabek and provincial police all responded and made an arrest, with police saying a handgun was seized.

“I want to thank the Anishinabek Police Service and OPP for their assistance in this investigation,” says Scott Tod, Chief of the North Bay Police Service. “I also want to recognize the quick thinking of the witness who, thanks to images released to the public, recognized the accused and immediately contacted police.”

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
