(Update) Classes reopening Tuesday to students at both public boards

Students at both the Near North District School Board and the local French Public School board will be back in class on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

NNDSB and Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario made the announcement after the province offered to rescind Bill 28 and the Canadian Union of Public Employees accepted to stop strike action and go back to work.

Schools at both boards were closed on Monday.

The Near North Board also says regular transportation will be in place and community use of schools will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 9, giving custodians a day to prepare facilities.

“CUPE remains in a position to strike with the five-day notice period still required as per the Labour Relations Act Ontario,” states a letter to parents.

Schools at both Catholic boards remained open on Monday.
