Halloween safety tips from the OPP

Ontario Province Police say Halloween can be an exciting time for kids and safety can be easily forgotten with the distraction of candy and costumes.

That’s why they’re offering up some safety tips.

The OPP says young children shouldn’t out trick or treating alone, look both ways before crossing the street, choose face paint instead of a mask, wear bright costumes and have an adult check the candy before eating.

Motorists are advised to drive slowly in residential areas, watch out for kids, reduce distractions and stay alert.

Ontario Provincial Police also say young children should be accompanied by an adult or responsible older child.
