Local students to take part in firefighting camp for women

Eight young women locally will be exploring the path to a possible career in firefighting next April.

North Bay Fire and Emergency Services says the group of high school students are going to receive training and first-hand experience in all aspects of the fire service.

“The training is meant to empower these young women to explore the fire service and provide them with experience, information and guidance to pursue this impactful career path in a safe and fun environment,” states a release.

So far, two local school boards have teamed up with the fire service to offer the career camp over two days in the spring.
