Officials ‘McHappy’ with fundraiser results

The North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation is celebrating a successful McHappy Day campaign.

Tammy Morison, Foundation President and CEO, says the May fundraiser at McDonald’s in North Bay and Sturgeon Falls resulted in a cheque for over $3,700 being presented to the Foundation.

“McDonald’s is a huge supporter of our community,” she says. “As you know McHappy Day supports Ronald McDonald House in Toronto so that families from the north have access to a place to stay when their child is hospitalized. (And) they support our hospital which is caring for all our children and youth.”

Morison says funds raised for the hospital’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit are helping them provide the best care possible for youth ages 18 and younger.

“It’s such a fun day and the proceeds staying local is really important to us,” she says.

McDonald’s owner Colin MacWhirter says it was inspiring to return to a more ‘normal’ McHappy Day this year.

“Volunteers and greeters at our restaurants brought their energy and enthusiasm, helping us support our community,” he says. “We have a real opportunity to make a big difference and we are grateful that our community came out in full force.”

Funds raised from McHappy Day locally are also going to One Kids Place.
