A councillor for Ward 7 will soon be present at West Nipissing Council.
With a nudge from the province, the municipality will now be accepting applications for the seat that has been vacant since July 2020, which will then be filled by appointment.
Council will be taking applications and conducting public interviews before narrowing it down to a single candidate.
In April, Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, wrote to council stating the seat should be filled by June 30. Council approved the appointment process at a special meeting last night.
According to discussion during last night’s meeting, advertising for the position will soon be visible on the municipality’s website and social media, sharing the requirements for the position and the June 6th deadline.
