Recognizing the work of local paramedics

This is Paramedic Services Week and the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) is recognizing the more than 80 paramedics who work across the district.

That includes North Bay, West Nipissing, Mattawa, South Algonquin and Temagami.

“The role of paramedics has expanded to beyond emergency calls over the years, particularly in the area of Community Paramedicine,” says DNSSAB Chair Mark King. “We are very fortunate that in a time of need, the paramedics and the people who support them are there to answer the call.”

The theme of the week is Faces of Paramedicine.

“Whether it’s the person who responds to a medical emergency, the one who checks in on your elderly parent, or the one seen at mobile vaccination clinics, members of Nipissing Paramedic Services are there when needed in your community,” states a release.

A flag-raising was held at North Bay City Hall on Tuesday morning.
