Both Nipissing University and the Nipissing Lakers are responding to a comment made during an online broadcast of the Lakers women’s basketball game this past weekend.
The post-secondary school and athletics team say they are aware of a “hurtful and inappropriate comment made” – and that it does not reflect their values of dignity, kindness and respect.
They report the person who made the comment has apologized and will no longer announce for the Nipissing Lakers.
In a response to a Twitter user’s request for his reaction, Kevin Wamsley, President and Vice Chancellor of Nipissing replied “There is no place for misogyny – in sport or otherwise”.
