MPs debate federal budget
As MP’s debate the budget in the House of Commons a New Democrat says the Harper Tories are setting themselves up for next year’s election. Carol Hughes, of Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing, says the feds under-funded many areas in order to build a surplus for next year’s election. Hughes says as a result she gets letters from seniors who are still working but still have problems meeting basic needs. She says one area hit by under-funding is First Nation education. Hughes says like the Liberals before them, the Tories talk about supporting Aboriginal communities but fail to deliver.
