OMPF funding down a bit for West Nipissing

A small drop in annual provincial funding for West Nipissing.

The municipality is receiving just under $6.6 million through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF) for 2022.

That’s down $20,000 from the amount the province doled out for this year.

When looking at the amount per household, West Nipissing’s 2022 OMPF amounts to $827.

That’s down from $832 per household for this year.

Ontario has been consulting with municipalities on their priorities for OMPF.

In a release, the province says throughout these discussions, municipal partners have stressed the importance of stability and predictability, particularly during these uncertain times.

“Predictable and timely financial support from the Province is essential for budget planning in small and rural municipalities,” says Graydon Smith, President of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. “The early rollout of stable 2022 Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund allocations sets the stage for effective budget planning for the year ahead.”
