Roof replacements coming to town hall

It looks like a portion of the town hall’s roof will be getting replaced.

Originally budgeted at $55,000, the lowest bid received by council was just shy of $88,000.

Stephan Poulin, Director of Economic Development and Community Services, says the increase in price is impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic which has lead to prices being significantly higher than budgeted amounts.

The job will be going to Blanchfield Roofing CO Ltd in North Bay and their $87,950.00 bid.

Staff recommended proceeding with the work this year in order to avoid further damage due to poor condition of the section of roof in question, with additional costs being covered from the community services capital reserve.

There was no objection from council, with Poulin adding they will try to wrap up the project this year depending on weather and access to materials.
