Study finds northern medical school working

Numbers show that students enrolled at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine usually end up practising somewhere in the north.  The school says over the past 10 years 89 percent of its students set up shop in Northern Ontario.  And of students who studied at other medical schools, only about five percent have come north.  The doctor who did the study, Patrick Timony, says it appears that creating the Northern Ontario medical school was a good move.  Timony says the north’s medical school model could be used to attract other professionals to Northern Ontario.
