The Municipality of West Nipissing will be taking part in the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The town’s Community and Recreation Centre will be closed on Thursday, September 30th.
In a release, the town says it’s an important day to bring awareness and create meaningful discussions about the legacies of the residential school system.
A ceremony will be held at Minnehaha Bay on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 4pm. During the ceremony, an Every Child Matters flag will be raised and a proclamation will be issued. Orange lights will also continue to shine at the West Nipissing Power Generation Dam.
