A long-time local politician has another reason to smile bright.
Leo Malette matched seven ENCORE numbers in order on August 26 and won the $1 million draw.
The councillor checked his lottery tickets on OLG.ca when he realized he won big. “I didn’t believe it was real,” the 76-year-old said. “I waited about an hour for my wife to wake up so I could tell her the good news. I started calling the kids and they were so shocked and happy for us!”
Leo treated himself to a new car with his winnings. He is currently enjoying a family getaway in Toronto and plans to share the rest of his winnings with the three generations in his family.
“This is a family win. My family is my whole world,” Leo concluded.
The winning ticket was purchased at Metro on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls.
