Ceremony at Canadore to commemorate National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The First Peoples’ Centre at Canadore College is holding a ceremony on September 30th to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The college will remain open that day.

However, in a release, Canadore says employees are being provided with an opportunity to reflect on and learn more about the significance of Truth and Reconciliation and the history behind orange shirt day.

The ceremony is taking place at the College Drive campus and will be recorded for students and employees who are still learning and working from home.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was created by the federal government to recognize and commemorate the history and ongoing legacy of residential schools and to honour their survivors, families and communities.
