It’s federal election day

Canadians, including locally, are choosing their next federal government. 

The polls in the 44th general election will be open for 12 hours starting at 9:30 am. 

Anyone unsure of where to vote, can search for the information on the Elections Canada website.

Residents are encouraged to bring their voter information card, along with accepted ID, to their polling station.

Elections Canada says they will not ask for proof of vaccination, but you will need to wear a mask.

According to Elections Canada, an estimated 17,730 people voted at the advanced polls in Nickel Belt.

That’s up from 11,802 ballots cast at the advanced polls in the last federal election.

Five candidates are running in Nickel Belt. 

Watch for updates on MyWestNipissingNow.com after the polls close. 

Final results will not be available until mail-in ballots are certified and counted.  

That process does not begin until Tuesday, September 21st.
