Reminder about election signs from the OPP

The Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding the public that during the federal election tampering or damaging election signs is a criminal offence.

They encourage anyone with any information about this type of criminal activity to contact the OPP.

Those who want to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers.

Complaints of damage to election signs have been made in both Nickel Belt and Nipissing-Timiskaming, by different candidates.

Incidents have also been reported in other parts of the province, with OPP in Haldimand and Wellington counties saying that mischief and/or theft-related charges could be filed.
