The construction of the new OPP detachment is completed.
It opens on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
The Nipissing West OPP will be moving from their John St. location to Levac Road in Cache Bay.
In a release, the OPP says no interruption or reduction of policing services will be happening during the shift, and the new detachment will be opened to the public from 8:15-4:15 Monday to Friday for administration functions and criminal record checks.
The release says the detachment has been outfitted with advanced technology and state-of-the-art policing equipment to ensure officers have the tools and space they require to provide residents with modern, cost-effective and high-quality police services.
Telephone numbers remain the same. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1 and for non-emergent police matters dial 1-888-310-1122. Controlled access to the new Nipissing West Detachment will be in place to protect the public and detachment personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Robert Lewis, OPP Communications Officer, says due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will not be any grand opening to the public and restriction to all OPP facilities are still limited.
