Duchesnay Creek bridge project nearing completion

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) confirms construction of the new Duchesnay Creek Bridge on Highway 17B is nearing completion.

“The timber superstructure below the bridge deck is now complete, and the contractor is currently completing the final phases of the concrete bridge deck installation,” says Jaclyn Lytle, MTO Communications Coordinator, Northeast Operations.

She says it’s anticipated that the entire project will be completed in late 2021.

The work has included the completion of a new bridge, resurfacing of approximately one kilometre of Highway 17B, and the removal of the former overhead bridge.

“There have been no significant delays to this project associated with the COVID-19 pandemic,” Lytle adds.

The project started in 2019.
