Ashdale residents oppose city bus on their street

North Bay council is directing staff to review proposed changes to bus routes around the city.  The directive follows scores of presentations Monday night where people oppose some changes.  The big change has putting a bus on Ashdale Crescent.  Ashdale residents oppose the move for safety reasons saying the street is small and has no sidewalks.  Resident Matt Lamfrombois says it’s bad enough having a city bus on Ashdale in good weather, but winter will make it even worse.  He says during the winter vehicles parked on the street need to move for the plow to get through.  He says imagine what it’s like if a plow and bus meet up on the street at the same time.   He’s suggesting the bus stay on Booth and make its way to Ferris which is an industrial area with little or no bus service.  He says putting the bus here has the added bonus of getting people to work in that area by using public transit.  Staff will report its findings back to council on August 10th.
