LMG says lockdown measures continue to impact job numbers
There are mixed results with job postings locally.
The Labour Market Group (LMG) reports 283 job postings in Nipissing in May 2021.
That’s down about three percent from the month before and 28 percent from the five-year average.
However, it’s seven percent higher than May 2020.
“We continue to see how provincial lockdown measures are negatively affecting job numbers,” says the LMG jobs report.
Health Care and Social Assistance were the top hiring industry, followed closely by Construction.
Accommodation & Food Services rounds out the top three.
That sector was the hardest hit during the pandemic, according to the LMG June Labour Focus, but has been recovering.
Officials say figures in April 2021 are at or above where they stood in April 2020.
