Body found after fire in Sturgeon Falls four-plex

A Lavigne woman is dead following a fire on Fourth Street in Sturgeon Falls.

The fire took place early Saturday morning at a four-plex.

Ontario Provincial Police were contacted to reach out to Victim Crisis Assistance and Referral Services (VCARS) for the displaced residents.

Police report the tenants got out of the building, with one taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.

However, a person visiting a tenant was unaccounted for.  

Police say a body was located at about 7 pm.

The deceased is identified as 33-year-old Melissa Larocque. 

The OPP Forensic Investigation Services (FIS), Sudbury OPP Crime Unit, the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM), and the Office of the Chief Coroner- Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-FPS) are assisting with this investigation.
