The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has the lowest cumulative rate of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in Ontario.
That’s according to Dr. Jim Chirico, the region’s Medical Officer of Health, who shared the news this morning with an attached warning.
“I want to acknowledge the continued efforts from everyone in the district, however, know that now is not the time to let our guard down, we have to be vigilant,” Chirico said.
Dr. Chirico said the cases that are being reported in the district are within and between households.
He urged people to keep trips outside the home essential; such as going to work, getting groceries, attending a medical appointment and being vaccinated.
Chirico said the reason we are doing well has to with our demographic, population density, and differences in workplace sectors.
Most importantly, however, he believes that residents are following public health measures and that’s the driving force in the fight against COVID-19.
