A freezing rain warning is in effect for the area.
Environment Canada is issuing the warning for North Bay, Powassan, Mattawa, West Nipissing and French River for Friday afternoon.
Freezing rain and ice pellets will persist for a couple more hours.
Freezing precipitation will change over to snow this afternoon then end by evening.
Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.
