Investigation continues into anti-lockdown protest

The North Bay Police Service is investigating Saturday’s anti-lockdown protest at the waterfront.

It was one of many events police were involved in over the weekend. Police presence was limited at the rally, with cruisers patrolling the area but no officers were seen on foot.

Scott Tod, Chief of police, says police have a couple of options for addressing the rally.

“We could have laid a provincial offences notice at the scene,” Tod told the media. “We can also provide summons to those people involved and have them appear in court.”

The rally, which had roughly 150 people who were not wearing facemasks nor social distancing, was one of many worldwide held on Saturday. Signs could be seen with messages of “freedom” and “end the lockdown”.
