Anishinabek Nation launches treaty education resource…

The Anishinabek Nation, along with the province, launched a new treaty education resource today. The “We Are All Treaty People” teachers kit aims to help students in grade 1-8 learn about treaty relationships in Ontario. Marci Becking is the communications officer with the Union of Ontario Indians and says the teacher’s guide started as a popular book. The kit has already been pre-ordered by more than 90 school boards, universities, and First Nations. The launch happened at the Union of Ontario Indians Office on Highway 17 this morning, between North Bay and Sturgeon Falls. The teachers kit also includes a Lego creation by 9 year Alex Hebert of a “Treaty of Niagara” Wampum Belt.
