Councillor breaks down opposition to water meter rates

A North Bay councillor says if the deputy mayor expects to pass a resolution on water meter rates, then it needs to have flexibility.  And Daryl Vaillancourt says right now there is no flexibility.  Vaillancourt says even at the committee stage there’s no consensus among the voting council members.  He says two of the four members, Mayor Al McDonald and councillor George Maroosis, voted against the recommendation   Vaillancourt says if no flexibility is built into the proposal before next Monday’s full council vote, he believes it will go back to committee.  Vaillancourt says as chair of the committee, deputy mayor Sheldon Forgette can amend the recommendation between now and next Monday.  Council wants to have the water rates in place as of July 1st.
