UPDATE: Chaos reigns as Trump supporters breach Capitol building

Update: Officials have declared the inside of the U.S. Capitol secure almost four hours after violent pro-Trump protestors disrupted the electoral college count. Police used tear gas and percussion grenades to break up the crowd, shortly before the 6 p.m. curfew came into effect. It’s reported pro-Donald Trump supporters breached the Capitol’s security and entered as Congress was debating challenges to President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win. The scene shows police loading rioters into vans secured by zip-tied handcuffs. There is no word yet on any formal charges. It does appear that police have brought a semblance of control to the throng of crowds outside the Capitol as a curfew took effect at 6 pm Eastern Standard time. One woman was shot on the grounds of the building and has since died from her wounds.

President Donald Trump has ordered the National Guard to the Capitol Building in Washington DC to control protesters that violently stormed the building earlier today.
The building was breached as Trump supporters protested the first day of congressional deliberations of President-Elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory. Media reports suggest hundreds of protesters pushed through barriers set up to protect the Capitol at around 1 pm Tuesday afternoon but officials say the House floor has now been cleared of protesters. It followed a rally where Trump vowed to supporters, “never concede”.
There was an armed standoff at the front doors of the House at about 3:00 pm. There are reports a woman was shot on the grounds of the Capitol but no further details have been released. At the urging of President-elect Joe Biden Trump issued a call for peace, but many are calling it insincere as he again said the election was fraudulent.
The Mayor of Washington has imposed a 6:00 pm EST citywide curfew.
