West Nipissing Fire Chief Richard Maranda is reminding residents that they need to get a fire permit before open air burning in the municipality. He says there’s no open air burning during the day at all, and doing so can carry a hefty fine of up to 410-dollars an hour per truck that attends the scene. Chief Maranda adds that they will not issue a burning permit for grass or leaf fires within the town limits because the restrictions are too high.
