COVID-19 resilience stream may fund HVAC replacement

HVAC equipment at the West Nipissing Recreation Centre could soon be getting an overhaul.

The funds for the change of equipment would come from the government’s COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream, which is potentially providing the municipality with $203,572 for a specific project.

Municipal staff looked over a variety of different projects, some of which will be brought up in the coming budget talks, but said that this project checks all of the boxes needed for approval of funding.

“It meets the criteria and can be completed by their deadline,” said Stephan Poulin, Director of Economic Development and Community Services. “We’re confident that we will get funding to get this done.”

The project will impact circulation in both the pool and fitness centre and is budgeted at approx. $203,000.

The deadline to apply is January 7.

The stream will be 80% cost-shared by the federal government and 20% cost-shared by the Province.
