Applications are now open for COVID-19 resilience Infrastructure Stream

The federal government is now accepting applications to the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream for municipalities in Northeastern Ontario.

It announced today that each of Ontario’s 444 municipalities are eligible for a minimum infrastructure grant of $100,000.

Municipalities may receive additional funding determined through indicators such as core infrastructure,e-value, total weighted assessment and median household income.

West Nipissing is eligible for $203,572.

The government says these grants support a wide range of pandemic-resilient projects such as upgrading schools and long-term care homes with things like HVAC and physical distancing measures, building new parks, and helping Canadians stay active through cycling and walking paths.

Under the program, the feds will cover up to 80 percent of eligible project costs.

They say a “simple” funding application process will ensure that projects can get underway as soon as possible.

The deadline to apply is December 21 for municipalities submitting single projects, and January 7, 2021, for those with multiple projects.
