Nipissing University’s COVID-19 outbreak has now affected 14 people.

The school issued a letter to its students and staff, stating the original outbreak’s total of six infections has spread to 14.

One of the cases is in a residence. Nipissing says the student has been moved to a quarantine suite with access to food and other supports. The residence building will also ramp up its cleaning and sanitization efforts.

The university and the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit are working on contact tracing. Those deemed as “high risk” will be contacted by the Health Unit.

The announcement comes hours after the Health Unit reported six positive cases in the Nipissing District.
