OPP launches seasonal Festive Ride Campaign

The OPP’s annual Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Campaign kicks off November 26.

It runs until January 2, and members of the Nipissing West Detachment will be taking part.

Motorists can expect to see officers conducting RIDE checks at any time of day and night, not only during the festive season but throughout the entire year.

Nipissing West OPP Detachment Commander, Inspector Michael Maville, says ”If you’re going to drink and/or consume drugs, make sure to plan ahead and don’t drive impaired.”
“Let keep our roads safe and ensure that everyone arrives at their destination safely. Drink responsibly, and enjoy the holiday season,” he added.

In the Nipissing West Detachment last year, OPP conducted 257 RIDE programs and laid 11 impaired driving charges.

The OPP says that if you suspect a person is driving, or about to drive impaired (by either alcohol or drugs), call 9-1-1 and report them to police.
