FedNor funding makes virtual Northern Ontario Pavilion a reality

Economic Partners-Sudbury East/West (EPSEWN) will once again be supporting Northern Ontario’s presence at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

FedNor announced today that the federal government will be investing $598,520 to help enable Northern Ontario agri-food businesses and organizations to expand, reach new markets and create jobs. The funds will allow EPSEWN to support the north’s presence at the fair over a two-year period.

Despite being a virtual event this year, the funds will allow EPSEWN to establish a virtual Northern Ontario Pavillion, boasting over 30 agri-food producers and organizations under one banner.
The focus this year will be on boosting business growth through e-commerce.

Neil Fox, General Manager at EPSEWN says he’s looking forward to helping northern Ontario show off its agri-food sector.

“We are delighted to partner with FedNor for what will be an exciting new venture this year to establish a virtual Northern Ontario Pavilion. Our Pavilion has always been one of the must-see attractions and we’re looking forward to welcoming new and familiar visitors to our digital site, which will help participating businesses to boost online sales, enhance their competitiveness and create employment across the region,” he said.

Marc Serré, MP for Nickel belt says the investment will not only help participating businesses mitigate and address some of the challenges posed by COVID-19.

“It will also help them develop their digital business, which continues to grow in importance. I am pleased that FedNor is finding innovative ways to celebrate its 20th anniversary at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and shine a spotlight on Northern Ontario’s unique agri-food products and services.” he finished.
The event is scheduled to run November 10-14.
