Noah Dugas ‘progressing’ in stroke rehab

The outpouring of support continues for a local 13-year-old as he goes through rehabilitation after suffering a stroke.

Noah Dugas is currently at Sick Kids in Toronto after a blood clot in his neck and brain area caused a stroke in late August.

“He is progressing,” said Noah’s uncle, Glen Gravelle. “It is amazing that after two weeks he’s come so far already. He’s got miles and miles to go but he has been progressing greatly.”

Dugas – who plays for the AAA North Bay Trappers – has been the focus of well-wishes from notable figures around the world, recently receiving a book and video shoutout from WWE star and actor, John Cena.

“The support is everything. It’s still flowing in each and every day. Parcels show up from individuals and letters of prayer and support. It’s just constant and we’re forever grateful for that,” Gravelle said.

Noah’s family issued a statement via Facebook on Wednesday evening.

“As each week passes, Noah is working hard in therapy showing his strength, perseverance and determination,” the statement reads. “We are forever grateful for the outpouring of love, support and prayers.”

Due to Noah’s extended stay in Toronto, his parents, Jody and Dave, have both had to leave their jobs to be at their son’s side. As a result, a GoFundMe has been set up to help support the family while Dugas recovers.

The GoFundMe’s goal was to raise $20,000. Since being started on September 21, the page has raised over $36,000.
